Front Door Mats - Welcome Home!

You know front door mats are pretty much an essential part to every home.  You need a place to dry off your shoes before you enter the house and it can also serve well as just a nice welcome mat for guests.

Front door mats can also express your personality, hobbies or sense of style as there is much variety in the types of mats you can pick up.  There are of course the plain old mats which have “Welcome” sprawled across it but then there are mats which display your favorite sports team, mats that have funny little sayings on them and mats that have intricate and interesting patterns on them.

Front door mats are not only limited to the home though, there are custom personalized door mats you can pick up to be used for small businesses, schools, churches or even for the military.
Now when you’re picking out your mat, you’re going to need to decide on what you’re buying it for first off.

If you just want a regular mat, sure, you can pick that up no problem.  If you want a mat that has a funny saying on it, you might have to do some shopping around before you’re actually able to find a saying you find smart and catchy enough to put on your front doorstep.  If you go this route, it might be better to just search for them online as it’s must easier to browse many different types of mats in this way and the chances you’ll find something you really like are a lot greater.

Now rather than getting something that’s customized, you may instead prefer a more luxurious mat, one that isn’t personalized but is made from the highest quality carpeting, ie: some luxury coir mats.  These you’ll pick out not only for their fabric but also for their exquisite patterning.  If you can’t decide on which of the front door mats to choose from, you might want to bring along a friend or perhaps your spouse to get a second opinion.

Now aside from just the simple carpeted front door mats, if you happen to live in a colder climate, you may instead opt for an outdoor door mat which is perforated so that you can stomp your boots on it and shake off any snow that may be on it.  Of course if you happen to work in construction, this kind of mat may be good for you as well as it will allow you to shake off the dirt chunks from your shoes so that you don’t track it into the house.

When looking at front door mats, one last thing, make sure to pay attention to the size and thickness of the mats, the last thing you want is to buy a mat only to find out it is too small or too big and have it wind up looking tacky on your front steps!
